About Range Rover

The original Range Rover was launched in 1970 as a Land Rover model that combined off-road capability with on-road comfort, effectively creating the luxury SUV category. Over five decades the line expanded beyond the full-size Range Rover to include the Range Rover Sport, the compact Evoque and the Velar. It was among the first vehicles to offer permanent four-wheel drive alongside a comfortable, road-focused interior.

Range Rover is now part of JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors. As part of JLR's reorganisation into separate brands, Range Rover, previously sold as a model line within Land Rover, is now marketed as a brand in its own right, alongside Defender, Discovery and Jaguar. The current range comprises the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar and Evoque, with SV versions at the top. The brand's first fully electric models, the Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric, began their roll-out in 2026.

Range Rover on a car subscription

A Range Rover subscription appeals to drivers who want a luxury SUV for a fixed period without the depreciation risk of buying one. Because these are high-value vehicles that have been targeted by thieves, insurance terms deserve careful attention: check the excess, any tracker or security requirements and the minimum driver age. Also look at the mileage allowance and fuel or energy costs, and if you are interested in the new electric models, confirm actual delivery timescales with the provider.
