About Renault

Renault was founded in 1899 by brothers Louis, Marcel and Fernand Renault near Paris. It grew into one of France's largest industrial companies and was nationalised in 1945. Models such as the 4CV, Renault 4 and Renault 5 brought motoring to millions, while the Espace of 1984 is widely credited as Europe's first mainstream MPV. The diamond-shaped logo dates back to 1925.

Renault was privatised in the 1990s and formed an alliance with Nissan in 1999. It was an early mover in electric cars with the Zoe, launched in 2012. Today Renault Group also owns Dacia and Alpine. The current range revives famous names in electric form, including the Renault 5, Renault 4 and Twingo, alongside the Megane and Scenic E-Tech electric and full-hybrid models such as the Clio, Captur, Symbioz and Austral. Renault has also had a long involvement in motorsport, particularly as an engine supplier in Formula One.

Renault on a car subscription

Renault is a popular subscription choice for drivers who want to try an affordable EV, with the Renault 5 and Renault 4 particularly well suited to town and suburban driving. Electric models offer low Benefit-in-Kind tax for company car users, while full-hybrid models such as the Clio and Captur suit those without home charging. Check the real-world range, the mileage allowance and what servicing and breakdown cover are included. Also confirm how long delivery will take.
