Car Subscriptions in Poland

In Poland, 'car on subscription' (samochód na abonament) usually means long-term or medium-term rental (najem długoterminowy) with insurance, servicing and tyres bundled into one monthly instalment.

The model grew quickly among businesses and sole traders, who are used to leasing, and it is now increasingly marketed to private drivers as well.

Key players include SIXT DriveSmart, which offers rentals from a few months to two years, OTOMOTO Lease, the OLX-owned platform that absorbed the pioneering Carsmile, and Ayvens Flex for business customers. Prices are often quoted net of VAT for companies, so check whether a figure is net (netto) or gross (brutto). Monthly rates for a compact car start around 1,400–1,800 zł.

Why choose a car subscription in Poland?

Insurance in the instalment

Compulsory OC liability, AC comprehensive and NNW accident cover plus assistance are usually included, so you avoid annual policy renewals.

No down payment

Many offers require no initial payment, unlike consumer car loans or classic leasing.

Servicing and tyres covered

Scheduled servicing and seasonal or all-season tyres are commonly part of the package.

Technical inspection handled

New cars are covered by the inspection schedule, and the provider manages registration and paperwork.

Suits sole traders

Rental instalments are a familiar cost for Polish businesses; your accountant can advise on how they are treated.

Shorter than leasing

Medium-term rentals from a few months let you avoid a 3–4 year leasing commitment.

Guide

How car subscriptions work in Poland

You choose a car online, select a term and an annual or monthly kilometre limit, then submit identity documents for a credit assessment (BIK and similar checks are common). Private customers need a PESEL number and a valid driving licence; businesses provide NIP and company registration details. Some providers ask for a deposit or initial fee. The monthly fee normally covers OC/AC/NNW insurance, assistance, servicing and tyres; fuel, motorway tolls and parking are paid separately.

Things to check before you subscribe

  • Check whether the quoted price is net or gross of 23% VAT.
  • Compare kilometre limits and the charge for excess mileage.
  • Look at the AC insurance excess and what counts as normal wear at return.
  • Confirm the minimum term and whether early termination is possible.
  • Ask about delivery time and whether the exact model is guaranteed.

Business

Car subscriptions for business

Long-term rental is widely used by Polish companies and sole traders as an alternative to leasing. Rules on deducting VAT and costing passenger-car rental (including limits linked to vehicle value and mixed private use) are detailed and have changed in recent years, so ask your accountant how they apply to you.
